Alberta's Hinton Training Centre
Located in Hinton, 15
minutes driving time from Jasper National Park and 280 km (175 mi.) west of
Edmonton, the Hinton Training Centre is situated in the
heart of Alberta's foothills forests. Nearby are Jasper
National Park, William A. Switzer Provincial Park and Willmore
Wilderness Park.
Industrial activities such as coal mines, a pulp mill, logging
operations and extensive petroleum activity are all close by.

at the Centre.
Alberta's Hinton Training Centre, is unique among educational
institutions in the province. Operating internationally, the
Centre provides a wide variety of training programs to assist
government, industry and special interest groups in upgrading
their skills.
Facilities
The Hinton Training Centre is operated by
Sustainable Resource Development and is a partner in Alberta's
Foothills Model Forest.
Situated on a ridge overlooking the town of Hinton and the
Athabasca River Valley, the Hinton Training Centre is
a self-contained education centre. Its facilities include an
academic building, two modern residences with accommodation for
165, dining services, rappel tower, the Alberta Forest Service
Museum, a fire lookout tower, a garage/warehouse complex, and
a 3070 ha (7586 acre) tract of forested land.
The academic building contains seven classrooms, eight specialized
labs, including two high-end computer labs and a fire simulation
lab, a gymnasium, indoor rifle range, recreation room, administration
offices, and all are handicap accessible.
