NRCan Home > About Us > Our Associate Deputy Minister Our Associate Deputy MinisterJohn Knubley Prior to his appointment to NRCan, Mr. Knubley was Vice-President ( Nova Scotia) of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. In this position, he played a leading role in the economic development of Atlantic Canada, particularly in promoting research and development as well as the energy sector. He has been the Chair of the Federal Council of Nova Scotia and a member of various boards, including Petroleum Research Atlantic Canada. Before this, Mr. Knubley worked in policy and research in Ottawa at the Economic Council of Canada, Investment Canada and Industry Canada. He served as an Assistant Deputy Minister for Employment Insurance Programs and Corporate Affairs at HRDC. He worked in both the Federal–Provincial Relations Office and Intergovernmental Affairs of the Privy Council Office. Mr. Knubley is a member of the Public Service Pension Advisory Committee. As a business consultant, Mr. Knubley's principal clients were an integrated oil company and a national bank. Mr. Knubley obtained degrees in philosophy, politics and economics from Yale, Harvard, Oxford and the Institut Européen des Hautes Études Internationales. He has a master's degree in public administration and a post-graduate diploma in International Relations. Born in Montréal, Mr. Knubley is married with three children. |
