Minister Emerson marks implementation of Softwood Lumber Agreement: "Today, Canada's softwood lumber industry breaks free from the endless cycle of conflict, uncertainty and costly litigation". (October 12, 2006) The Government of Canada has launched the new Asia-Pacific Gateway and Corridor Initiative announcing concrete measures and long-term direction to strengthen Canada’s competitive position in international commerce. Canada has sharply condemned the apparent nuclear test carried out by North Korea.
