Biodiversity Research
Research in this area focuses on...
- defining and measuring the elements of forest biodiversity in terms
of genes, species, ecosystems, and landscapes;
- identifying and assessing the impacts of human activity (including
climate change) and natural catastrophes on biodiversity in Canada's
forests;
- determining what constitutes effective conservation of forest biodiversity;
and
- identifying and monitoring invasive alien forest pests and protecting
species and ecosystems at risk.
Biodiversity research involves the disciplines of genetics, taxonomy,
and ecology.
