Whether they are on a ride to school, a field trip or a sporting event, all children should be familiar with the safety rules relating to school buses. |

School Bus Basic Rules
Student behaviour on a school bus is an integral part of safety. In order to create a pleasant atmosphere for all passengers, all students must abide by certain specific rules. These rules are posted on all school buses and are reviewed with the students during the school bus safety program presentation. Violation of these rules will result in disciplinary action. |

SCHOOL BUS DAILY INSPECTION
Under Regulation 2001-51 (Pupil Transportation Regulation - Education Act), school bus drivers are required to conduct a daily inspection on their school buses. The content of the school bus daily inspection is used by the drivers' examiner when bus drivers are being tested for their driving permit. |

Safety is the number one concern in the pupil transportation industry. The Safety Guidelines are a summary of how students should behave in and around school buses. These guidelines are posted in schools and are reviewed with the students as they participate in school bus safety programs. |

SCHOOL BUS SAFETY - Grades 6 to 12 - A TEAM EFFORT
Travelling on the school bus should be a safe and pleasant journey for all students. By working together, as a team, the grades 6 to 12 students can significantly contribute to the safety and enjoyment of the daily school bus trip. Teaching staff can play a very important role in raising student awareness about school bus safety. The teacher’s guide contains pertinent information needed to explain the safety rules and guidelines to students. |

School Bus Safety Pamphlet
In order to meet safety expectations around school buses, basis guidelines on the proper behaviour around school buses must be taught to school children. The School Bus Safety Pamphlet complements the information session that is provided to students in the early weeks of school. We encourage parents and/or tutors to review the contents of the pamphlet with their children. |

Standard Requirements
All drivers and vehicles contracted by the Province of New Brunswick to convey students to and from school must meet the standard requirements set out under the Pupil Transportation Regulation (Regulation 2001-51) by the Department of Education. |
