RECERTIFICATION (BY EXAMINATION)

Recertification is conducted to verify an individual's current knowledge. Certified individuals will have to recertify by successfully completing a simplified examination prior to the tenth anniversary of their initial certification and every ten years thereafter.

Currently, recertification is done by practical examination for Levels 1 and 2 and by written examination for Level 3. However, there have been some recent moves in Europe to investigate alternative methods such as logbooks for recertification of Levels 1 and 2. Until the international community decides on procedures, we recommend waiting until NRCan issues a request for recertification.

RECERTIFICATION EXAMINATIONS — CONTENT, DURATION AND FEES

A minimum average of 80% must be obtained on the recertification examination for all methods, levels and sectors.
