Deadline for submitting applications is Tuesday, 07 November, 2006
Note: Before applying, please read all instructions
Please note that all applicants
seeking any PCSP logistics services and support for which they are not
planning to pay (e.g. aircraft, equipment, room and board, etc) MUST
complete and submit the Strategic Assessment Form
by deadline along with all other forms required to demonstrate relevance to government strategic priorities
Timeline Deadline for submitting your application(s) to PCSP is
November 7, 2006.
Please note that only 2007 forms will be accepted. Handwritten
applications or forms that have been altered will not be accepted. Note
that PCSP will no longer be sending hard copies of their application
packages to clients.
The application deadline is in
November each year. The material is compiled by PCSP and in
mid-December, the PCSP Science Screening Committee, as part of its
annual deliberation, evaluates all non-Canadian and non-government applications
and presents its recommendations to PCSP. PCSP reserves the right to make
final decisions concerning project support based upon resource
availability and logistics feasibility. Applicants are informed about
the level of support granted to them by PCSP through a Letter of
Support to each project, traditionally mailed out in February/March.
Who can apply
Principal investigators planning to conduct fieldwork in the Arctic are invited to apply for logistics support by submitting an application form to
PCSP. See the list below to determine which forms you should submit.
Depending on when and where you are conducting your operations, support
may be available in the form of airplane or helicopter use, fuel
caching, accommodation for your field party, loan of field or
communication equipment, etc.
Canadian Arctic-Antarctic Exchange Program
The Canadian
Arctic-Antarctic Exchange Program is designed to encourage collaboration
between Canadian Arctic scientists and non-Canadian scientists working in the
Antarctic. Participants who wish to apply under this program must make note
of it on page one of the Application for Logistics Support (Form 11) and submit
the required information with the application.
Traditional Knowledge Program
PCSP has developed a Traditional Knowledge Program, offering logistics support
to projects developed by or with Arctic communities in order to meet community
needs. A separate application form is required.
Licensing & Permitting
Researchers are responsible for ensuring that they have all the necessary licences and permits. PCSP cannot put any parties into the field if we have not received a copy of all pertinent documentation.
Required Documentation As noted below, the required
documentation varies depending on your agency and the program for which
you are applying, but note that every applicant is required to submit
an "Application for Logistics Support (Form 11)". If submitting a
hard copy of your application package, please send the original
plus 6 copies. If submitting via fax or e-mail, only one
copy is needed.
