INDUSTRY DATA
The petroleum industry has expended in excess of $18 billion in exploring for oil and gas on Canada´s frontier Lands. Copies of all of the data resulting from this effort are collected on behalf of the federal government (DIAND and NRCan) by 3 different regulatory Boards who make it available for perusal and purchase after a certain confidentiality period. The industry, governments and regulatory boards rely on this data to undertake basinal analyses and make cost-effective assessment decisions which ultimately dictate where they will concentrate their exploration effort.
Various data bases are available to make the industry aware of what data is available.
Most technical data, including well, seismic and rights issuance data are not available on-line and must be obtained through the CNOPB/CNSOPB/NEB. Check the appropriate web site for information on data availability and the cost of retrieval.
