About the First Nations Forestry Program
In partnership with First Nations
The FNFP was launched in April 1996 as a national partnership program jointly managed and administered by the Canadian Forest Service, Natural Resources Canada and Lands and Trust Services, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
Since 1996, the FNFP has funded over 1 700 projects. Partnerships among First Nations, the federal government, and the forestry industry have created opportunities for First Nations people to improve their skills and apply sustainable forest management practices.
