The Ministry of Energy continues to play an active role in National Energy Board proceedings related to tolls and service structures of interprovincial pipelines. These proceedings can have significant impacts on Ontario consumers, who currently pay $1 billion annually in federally-regulated pipeline tolls and costs. The ministry is participating in a national process to review the regulation of pipelines to encourage greater harmonization among jurisdictions.
Gasoline Prices
The Ontario Ministry of Energy has a key role in monitoring gasoline prices across Ontario and providing information on these prices to a wide range of stakeholders, including individual oil companies, industry associations, other governments, the general public and media.
The federal government, through the Competition Bureau, is responsible for ensuring fair competition in gasoline markets.
