Titre : Comment animer un groupe

HM 716 Q2 (580 Booth)

Auteur : Michel Quaranta

Titre : Economics confronts the economy

HB 74.5 K64 (580 Booth)

Auteur : Philip A. Klein

Résumé : Economics confronts the economy is a challenging and unorthodox look at contemporary economic analysis. Philip Klein presents a highly reasoned and yet personal view of the state of economics today. While his views may be contentious to some, it is an accessible book that will provoke discussion and debate to a wide readership.

Titre : The handbook of training technologies: an introductory guide to facilitating learning with technology from planning through evaluation

HF 5549.5 T7 H236 (580 Booth)

Auteurs : William J. Rothwell, Marilynn N. Butler, Daryl L. Hunt

Résumé : This important resource offers an understanding of the basic principles that underlie training methods and the use of technology training in the workplace. Appropriate for those who have little or no formal training in educational technology, this book addresses such topics as the decision to use, the pros and cons for using, and presentation strategies for media as varied as the Internet, teleconferencing, satellite distance learning, and electronic performance support systems.

Titre : Putting econometrics in its place: a new direction in applied economics

HB 139 S972 (580 Booth)

Auteur : G.M. Peter Swann

Résumé : Putting econometrics in its place is an original and fascinating book, in which Peter Swann argues that econometrics has dominated applied economics for far too long and displaced other essential techniques. While Peter Swann is critical of the monopoly that econometrics currently holds in applied economics, the more important and positive contribution of the book is to propose a new direction and a new attitude to applied economics.

Titre : Solar engineering of thermal processes

TJ 810 D857 2006 (580 Booth)

Auteurs : John A. Duffie and William A. Beckman

Résumé : The updated, cornerstone engineering resource of solar energy theory and applications. Solar technologies already provide energy for heat, light, hot water, electricity, and cooling for homes, businesses, and industry. Because solar energy only accounts for one-tenth of a percent of primary energy demand, relatively small increases in market penetration can lead to very rapid growth rates in the industry which is exactly what has been projected for coming years as the world moves away from carbon-based energy production.

Mines, minéraux et métaux

Titre : Australian mineral economics: a survey of important issues

HC 605 A77 A932 (580 Booth)

Auteurs : Philip Maxwell and Pietro Guj

Résumé : Modern civilization depends heavily on the extraction of mineral commodities from the earth. Without petroleum, coal, copper, nickel, gold and hundreds of other subsoil products, we would not have automobiles, high rise buildings, television sets, cell phones, electric lights and most of the other amenities that make life so comfortable, secure, efficient and interesting. Indeed, our dependence on mineral resources is one of the big differences between life today and life just 200 years ago.

Titre : Sustainable metals management :securing our future, steps towards a closed loop economy

363.73 S963 (555 Booth)

Auteurs : Arnim von Gleich, Robert U. Ayres and Stefan Gobling-Reisemann

Résumé : Sustainable metals management: securing our future, steps towards a closed loop economy brings together experts from many fields, with sometimes controversial opinions, to discuss the conditions and limits of a sustainable metals management. The ideas and goals of sustainability are not only explained theoretically, but also applied to various stages of the metal making and trading process. The unique feature of this book is its focus on the practical issues of sustainability and the eminent role that companies play in this respect.

Auteur : Amy Forsgren

Résumé : Corrosion Control Through Organic Coatings provides comprehensive coverage of heavy-duty corrosion-protection paints. This book explains the most important variables in selecting and applying coatings. It describes factors that contribute to coating breakdown and failure, exploring the acceleration of these factors in laboratory testing. It also addresses important aspects of heavy-duty coatings such as coating formulation, substrate preparation, and coating degradation.

Résumé : This second edition of Fundamentals of Materials Science and Engineering continues to take an integrated approach to the topic organization. One specific structure, characteristic, or property type at a time is discussed for all three basic material types- metals, ceramics, and polymeric materials. This order of presentation allows for early introduction of non-metals and supports the engineer's role of choosing a material based on its characteristics.

Titre : Modeling of combustion systems: a practical approach

621.4023 C683 bc (Bells Corners)

Auteur : Joseph Colannino

Résumé : Addressing the important need to predict and control emissions from operating units, Modeling of Combustion Systems: A Practical Approach shows how to obtain accurate real-time models for predicting flame behavior and emissions based on input factors alone. The author combines techniques for obtaining practical emissions and combustion models and uses a semi-empirical approach that presumes no special knowledge beyond that of a typical engineering curriculum. He demonstrates how to obtain valid data from scale or actual testing, validate the model, and use the model to predict and control unit behavior and presents practical applications of theoretical models useful to practicing engineers.
