Funding ProgramsCFS/SSHRC: Graduate Supplements Program The Canadian Forest Service (CFS) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Graduate Supplements Program, established in 1997, is based on the success of the CFS and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Graduate Supplement Program. Like the CFS/NSERC/SSHRC Research Partnership Program, it recognizes the importance of social and economic forestry drivers as recommended by public consultations and advisory activities, such as the National Forest S&T Course of Action. A maximum of 5 supplements will be offered annually to Doctoral Students. Each CFS Graduate Supplement is worth $5,000 per annum for a maximum of two years, as long as the recipients retain their SSHRC doctoral fellowship. The program has proven extremely valuable to both recipients and the forest community - including the CFS. Since 1997, approximately 34 students have benefited from the program, for a total of $170,000. Program Objective
