Abstract:

Objectives:
To retrospectively study existing vegetation management experiments, where a range of conifer release alternatives have been tested, to quantify the effects of these methods in the stem quality of regenerating aspen.

Thunder Bay

Journal Article- The effects of conifer-release treatments on aspen stem quality; implications for mixedwood management. Report- The effects of conifer-release treatments on aspen stem quality; implications for mixedwood management. University thesis.

Expected Benefits:
This project will provide knowledge for improving forest management practices by refining decision-making processes regarding stand tending options, and will improve predictive capabilities concerning future/harvestable stand condition.
