Abstract:

Objectives:
To develop and test new forest vegetation management strategies (including new alternative, improved uses, and optimization) that may be applied within an operational integrated pest management framework.

Location:
Northern Ontario

Key Deliverables:
Journal Articles - national field trip of Chondrostereum purpureum (lead D. Pitt); Performance of 3 conifer stock types (lead W. Bell); Effects of season and height of cut on aspen stem sprouting and root suckering (lead W. Bell); Deposit response relationships for glyphosate and triclopyr herbicides (lead D. Thompson); Evaluation of Seven vegetation management alternatives (lead Bell).

Expected Benefits:
Development of environmentally friendly vegetation management techniques for use in forest management of regenerating stands.
