Abstract:

Objectives:
To develop models to examine possible effects of IFM, at multiple scales, on wildlife species based on literature and expert opinion.

Location:
Northeastern Boreal and Great Lakes-St. Lawrence forest regions

Key Deliverables:
Report- Literature review on IFM and biodiversity; model- Predictive model to predict IFM effects that are scale-dependent; report- A prediction of thresholds of IFM that might exist on which to base field studies of the effects of IFM.

Expected Benefits:
This project will ultimately measure the predicted effects of intensive forest management on animal species at multiple scales.

Sources of Funding:
A-base, Tembec, OMNR, Ontario's Living Legacy Trust (OLLT)

Other Collaborators:
Jim Baker, Michael Ter-Mikaelian, OMNR, OFRI, Tembec, CEC

Nature of Other Collaborators' Involvement:
Research support, cash, and in-kind support.
