EnerGuide for New Houses Service

Your customers are looking for value in their new home. Natural Resources Canada has the tools, services and standards to help you build energy efficiency into your new home designs.

EnerGuide for New Houses has a service for home builders to evaluate plans and develop energy upgrade packages for customers. A good EnerGuide for New Houses rating is proof of a more energy-efficient home – one that is more comfortable to live in and less expensive to operate.

Find out how EnerGuide for New Houses can be built into your business. Whether you're a builder of new homes, a home inspector, a product manufacturer or other trained professional in the new housing industry, EnerGuide for New Houses can be an asset to your business. Read on to find out how!

What Is the EnerGuide for New Houses Service?

Grants for Residential Property Owners

The EnerGuide for New Houses service starts with an analysis of the house plans by an EnerGuide for New Houses advisor. Some builders prefer to carry out this analysis with their own staff. The advisor will recommend energy-saving upgrades and work with you to define cost-effective options. You will then estimate the cost of the upgrade work, with a price for the various upgrades.

If you are a tract builder, you can develop upgrade packages that your customers can purchase before building begins.

After building is complete, an EnerGuide advisor (a third-party contractor, not one of your employees) will verify that the energy upgrades recommended in the plans have been incorporated into the built house. The advisor will also perform a blower door test. After this data has been collected, you will receive an EnerGuide rating label and report to give to your customer.
