City of Greater Sudbury vehicle idling campaign
The City of Greater Sudbury implemented an idling campaign using signs, personal contacts and request for commitments by its residents. In addition, EARTHCARE SUDBURY developed and aired the following radio ad to inform residents about the impacts of vehicle idling.
"Did you know that 9 out of 10 Sudburians believe that they shouldn't idle their vehicle's engine because it produces unnecessary pollution?
"By making a personal commitment to not idle your engine you'll save money and reduce emissions that cause smog and climate change.
"Not idling your engine is something you can do each and every day to protect our health and our environment.
"Remember that letting your engine idle for just 10 seconds uses more fuel than restarting your engine.
"EARTHCARE SUDBURY is working to make Sudbury an Idle-Free Zone.
"Let's all do our part!"
Sudbury signs, windshield decals and information cards were used for general public interventions and at each of the 49 City of Greater Sudbury schools. Other tools included:
