2. What are your hours?
EMMIC is open from 8:30 to 4:30, Monday through Friday , statutory holidays excepted.
3. Who can borrow from EMMIC?
Employees of Natural Resources Canada. Interlibrary loans
are available to other libraries as well.
4. How do I borrow material?
On your first visit, bring along your ID card and register
with the circulation clerk. From then on, you just have to complete
a circulation slip to check out material.
5. What is the borrowing period?
Internal clients may borrow monographic materials for an initial loan period of three weeks
with the possibility of two renewals of two weeks each, provided the material has not been requested
by another internal client in the interim. Clients may borrow complete issues of periodicals for
an initial loan period of one week with the possibility of two renewals of one week each. Current
periodical issues can be consulted in the Library only.
Internal clients outside the NCR may borrow monographic materials for an initial loan period of four
weeks with the possibility of two renewals of two weeks each provided the material hasn't been requested
by another internal client in the interim.
6. What is the charge for overdue material?
None.
7. What if the EMMIC does not have the material I need?
CANMET employees should contact their Document Delivery representative and they will try to obtain the material from other sources.
8. What if I do not know how to use your catalogue?
Please come to EMMIC. There is always someone to assist you.
9. Is it possible to make photocopies?
A photocopier is available at each location.
10. Will you do online literature searches?
Yes. Our internal clients may search Databases from their desktops. For searches or training, please contact your library representative. For other databases, please ask at the information desk. Online searches are not available to outside clients.
