Important Notice

The EnerGuide for Houses Retrofit Incentive Program has been discontinued as of midnight May 12, 2006.

Property owners who have had a pre-retrofit evaluation performed prior to May 13, 2006 can have a post-retrofit evaluation and still qualify for a grant until March 31, 2007. Refer to the eligibility criteria for more information.

It is suggested that you complete your upgrades well in advance of this date (at the very latest by February 28, 2007) in order to allow enough time for the EGH contractor to complete your follow-up evaluation and submit your grant application and data file to us. You can calculate the amount of your potential grant by using our grant calculator.

To book your follow-up evaluation, contact an energy advisor or call 1-800-387-2000 to find the name of an EGH contractor in your area who can perform your evaluation.

The Government of Canada will develop a strategy focused on ensuring that future generations enjoy clean air, clean water, clean land and clean energy.

Use the EnerGuide for Houses Grant Calculator to estimate the amount of your grant. To use the calculator, you must:

  • have had your home rated by an authorized EnerGuide for Houses energy advisor
  • have handy your home’s current and potential energy efficiency ratings (provided on page 1 of your EnerGuide for Houses report, prepared by your energy advisor after your home’s initial evaluation)

With your EnerGuide for Houses report in hand, use the electronic calculator below to estimate the grant amount you could be eligible to receive. Use the rating scale (usually on page 1 of your report) that shows your house's current rating and the potential rating after improvements.

A message will appear if you will be unable to perform enough retrofits to meet the minimum improvement levels required for a grant.

Because your house works as a system, it is impossible to estimate the effect of any specific retrofit on your rating. In your report, the energy advisor will identify the retrofits that could bring the greatest returns. If you perform a substantial amount of the recommended work, you can expect your rating to approach the maximum improved rating in your report. There is no guarantee that performing all the recommended retrofits will result in exactly the upgrade rating predicted in your report.
