Art Contest – Rules and Regulations

Synopsis of the Contest

Students between 6 and 13 years old‚ create artwork in teacher-supervised‚ school-run contests. Schools then submit artwork to a province/territorial co-ordinator who is responsible for choosing the winner for that province or territory. The provincial/territorial co-ordinator then sends the winning drawing to Natural Resources Canada’s Office of Energy Efficiency (OEE) for publication in the calendar. All aspects of the contest‚ including the distribution of prizes‚ are completed by the end of the school year. In autumn‚ free copies of the calendar are available for distribution through the provincial/territorial coordinator and through the OEE’s web site.

Theme:

Be energy efficient at home‚ at school and on the road!

General Rules

  • Teachers/schools that want to participate must contact their province/territorial co-ordinator for full details of the local contest‚ for participation forms and for prizes
  • Only schools can submit artwork to the province/territorial co-ordinator. This contest is a supplement to supervised learning activities provided by professional educators.
  • One winning drawing will be chosen from each province and territory.
  • Participants should be between 6 and 13 years old.

How the Winners are Chosen

The provincial/territorial co-ordinator chooses the winner from amongst submissions received in his/her region. Natural Resources Canada does not participate as a judge in these contests.

Artistic ability is not the only criteria used to judge artwork. Relative age of the artist‚ subject matter‚ use of colour and originality are all factors used when choosing the winners.
