Energy Retrofit Assistance for Planning Activities (ERA-P)

EnerGuide for Existing Buildings (EEB) can help your business, institution or other eligible organization by providing Energy Retrofit Assistance, funding for energy management plans, audits, feasibility studies and other retrofit planning activities in your existing buildings, also known as ERA-P.

How the Planning Incentive Works

EEB members can receive up to 50 percent of eligible costs or up to $1 per gigajoule (1 GJ = 277.8 equivalent kilowatt hours) of annual energy consumption in the affected buildings – whichever amount is less – to a maximum of $25,000.

Please Note

  • The September 15, 2006 deadline for submitting ERA proposals is now expired. Currently, the program has received proposals exceeding its financial capacity. The program may consider additional applications until December 15, 2006, if funds are still available.

  • New proposals should be submitted by September 15, 2006. Applications received after this date may be considered on a case-by-case basis until funding is depleted.

  • All projects must be completed by March 31, 2007 and final reports and invoices must be received before May 15, 2007.

  • Do not sign contracts or start work until funding is formally approved.

  • Where possible, technologies and equipment that are innovative, use renewable energy and have the potential to achieve the highest energy savings should be considered.

  • You can find service providers through the Energy Management Services Directory.

  • In some cases, you can also apply for ERA-I for retrofit implementation projects or for related incentives.

  • Keep current with recent ERA policy updates by subscribing to the Heads Up Energy Efficiency newsletter.
