What is EnerGuide for Industry?

EnerGuide for Industry is a new initiative, under the Government of Canada Action Plan 2000 on Climate Change. Developed by the Office of Energy Efficiency of Natural Resources Canada, this program is a series of practical, concrete measures aimed at helping Canada meet its Kyoto Protocol targets.

EnerGuide for Industry is an energy rating program that uses the familiar EnerGuide name and interactive tools to help energy-wise industries make the right choice when purchasing "off the shelf" equipment such as motors, dry-type transformers, HVAC, lighting products, refrigeration products, boilers, compressors, and pumps.

Why EnerGuide?

EnerGuide provides the estimated energy consumption or efficiency of the product and rates the energy performance of a product with others in the same size and class.

Using consensus test standards and procedures, simple terminology and user-friendly tools, EnerGuide for Industry makes it easier for you, the user, to identify and purchase energy-efficient equipment that will save money and reduce GHG emissions for years to come.

EnerGuide for Industry allows you, the buyer, to use interactive tools linked to databases and directories to identify available products and compare them on the basis of energy performance. However, standardized formats may be developed for presenting comparative energy consumption information in product brochures and catalogues.
