These guidelines encourage individuals to apply effective information management practices to e-mail messages. As such, it provides guidance in the creation, use and management of e-mail messages, and in the identification of those e-mail messages that are departmental records. It also provides guidance on the disposition of e- mail records to ensure that information for which the Department is accountable is not lost or destroyed.
