Invitation to Participate in CHINA MINING 2005 and Natural Resources Canada Events on the Margins of China Mining |
Natural Resources Canada has been supporting China's reform towards a full
market economy, and has been striving for mutually beneficial mining investment
and trade between Canada and China. Since 1999 special emphasis has been placed
on improving the investment climate in China for Canadian investors and on
attracting Chinese mining investment to Canada. In support of these efforts,
NRCan signed two Memoranda of Understanding with China during the Prime Minister's
visit to China in January 2005. These memoranda, one with the National Development
and Reform Commission, and the other with the Ministry of Land and Resources,
pertain to cooperation between Canada and China on policies and activities
related to investment, mining and earth sciences. These MOUs enable Natural
Resources Canada to engage key Chinese decision-makers in regular bilateral
discussions.
To build upon the momentum from these two agreements, NRCan will participate
in CHINA MINING 2005 in November in support of the Canadian private sector.
We are also working with the Canadian Association of Mining Equipment and Services
for Export (CAMESE) on a Canadian pavilion to increase the visibility of Canadian
companies at the exhibit. If you are active in the Chinese mining sector, or
contemplating new opportunities in this burgeoning economy, it is our pleasure
to invite you to attend China Mining and exhibit in the Canada pavilion.
To further increase the benefits to Canadian companies participating in China
Mining 2005, we are planning two events on the margins of China Mining:
- an informal meeting between Canadian companies and federal government
officials to discuss experiences with China
- a workshop to provide Canadian companies with an opportunity
to promote their capacity and technology to a selected group of Chinese government
and industry representatives. (Note that companies exhibiting under the Canadian
pavilion will have priority to present at the workshop.) The workshop will
be followed by a networking reception.
These events are scheduled to take place on Monday, November 14, prior to
the official opening of CHINA MINING 2005. For further details on the Natural
Resources Canada events, please contact Ghislain Robichaud, Manager, International
Relations.
To make arrangements to exhibit in the Canadian pavilion, please contact
Maurice Bichsel, Director, International Market Development, CAMESE at bichsel@camese.org or by phone at (905) 513-0046 ext 303.
