Consulting

As part of the Explosives Regulatory Division's public safety mandate, the
Division provides consulting and evaluation services in the following areas.

Major fireworks displays and special effects events such as Canada Day, international competitions, and possibly movie shoots, are evaluated and special recommendations are drafted with reference to safety issues and operating procedures for the particular venue or event.


ERD is represented on the Interdepartmental Technical Committee on Dangerous Goods. When requested, the committee will perform an Explosives Limitation Survey (ELS) at ports and harbours in Canada. The ELS will result in recommendations for quantities of explosives allowed at wharves and berths.
