National Capital Commission
Canada

The NCC contracted for $34.8 million in calendar year 2005, within the following categories:

Goods

$5.5 million

Services (general and professional)

$16.1 million

Construction

$13.2 million

Every month, we place a list of contracts awarded (over $5,000) in the NCC Library.

Regulations

The NCC contracts out in accordance with the Government Contracts Regulations, other applicable regulations, the Treasury Board Contracts Directive (which prescribes the contracting authority limits) and the NCC Corporate Administrative Policy and Procedures (CAPPS) regarding procurement services.

We are subject to NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and AIT (Agreement on Internal Trade).

How We Publicize Contracting Opportunities

We use the official federal government electronic tendering system known as MERX to publicize procurements estimated to be within the various trade-agreement thresholds.

Supplier Source List

We maintain and use our own supplier source list to solicit bids, where feasible, for smaller contracts. In addition, some decentralized purchasing is authorized (including the use of credit cards issued within the acquisition card framework).
