Forest and Landscape Management

Research in this area focuses on

  • studying harvesting options and ecosystem functioning in the context of sustainable forest management;
  • using remote-sensing technology and satellite imagery and developing expert systems;
  • characterizing and modeling the biophysical environment, such as climate and topography, and their relationships to the distribution of wildlife; and
  • developing modeling tools to assess the impact of natural and human disturbances and to assist with planning management regimes.
