Pathology

Research in this area focuses on

  • studying forest diseases (fungi, root rots, cankers), their physiology and life cycles, in order to control outbreaks and manage their spread; and
  • developing biological pesticides and alternative controls.

Also included in forest pathology studies is damage caused by non-infectious disease agents such as humans (through air and soil contamination), animals, and weather.
