The federation, formerly the Canadian Geoscience Council, facilitates coordination needed to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the earth sciences in addressing the needs of the people of Canada, in relation to economic prosperity, natural hazards, public health, as well as appreciation and preservation of our natural heritage.
