The document outlines the following:

  • the function of capital cities, the role of the NCC and its predecessors, which have worked to shape Canada’s Capital for more than 100 years, and the importance of a Capital commission in Canada;
  • the NCC’s current mandate, programs and business lines; its program delivery and interaction with partners; its extensive public consultation; and its key results and achievements over the past decade; and
  • the global trends that have an impact on Canada’s Capital, with a description of opportunities that are being pursued to shape the Capital of the future.

The NCC remains committed to delivering the Capital mission over the long term. Canadians can count on the NCC to continue to safeguard and preserve their Capital and to make it an interesting, meaningful and memorable place to visit or in which to live.
