Geochemistry Geochemical data
Geochemical data can be obtained from the following locations:
- Canadian geochemical surveys
This is a catalogue of geochemical surveys conducted by the Geological Survey of Canada
and its Provincial counterparts. The catalogue currently contains about 400
entries. This represents an estimated 70% of the GSC's data holdings and
something less than 50% of the Provincial data holdings.
For many GSC surveys, the raw geochemical data (released as GSC Open Files) are available for download,
and can be located by searching the catalogue or browsing by category.
The catalogue is also available as a Z39.50 service, which can be queried through these portals:
Until the catalogue is complete, users should also search
GEOSCAN (and any provincial
equivalents) to locate additional surveys.
- National Geochemical Reconnaissance raw data
Raw data for National Geochemical Reconnaissance lake and stream surveys can be downloaded from the
Geoscience Data Repository. The user specifies a geographic bounding box which selects a block of data
to download as a single package. The data may encompass several surveys, and analytical methodologies
may vary slightly from one survey to another.
