National geochemical reconnaissance

The National Geochemical Reconnaissance (NGR) program is Canada's national geochemical survey program obtained from freshwater streams and lakes.

The NGR program has a mandate to establish and maintain a nationally consistent geochemical database to be used for resource evaluation, mineral exploration and environmental studies. Basic elements of the program include regional stream and lake sediment and water sampling, follow-up sampling programs, and reanalysis of existing samples.

To date, over 80,000 streams and over 100,000 lakes have been sampled in seven provinces and three territories covering more than 2.6 million square kilometres of Canada's landmass.

These data are publicly available.
