Ice-Core Expedition 2001
Daily Report - June 23rd 2001

Snow pits dug by ICE2001 are several metres deep. To prevent any potential accident the pits are refilled and now are only about a half metre deep.
Snow pits dug by ICE2001 are several metres deep. To prevent any potential accident the pits are refilled and now are only about a half metre deep.

The ICE2001 drill team is dismantling the drill and storing it safely at Prospector-Russell Col for the long winter. It will be reassembled in the spring and the hole finished off and the ice core recovered.

Meanwhile, the four ICE2001 members, in their mobile camp at King Col, will continue to sample in the King Trench. They may not be back at the Quintino Sella Glacier camp for about five days.
