Turning a hand ice-corer. A 5 m deep snow pit and a 10 m ice-corer allows ICE2001 scientists a core 15 m long. Thus several years of snowfall can be examined.

The first people from the high drill camp are now at the ICE2001's "control centre", located at the research station of the Arctic Institute of North America on the Alaska Highway. Mike Demuth, Steve Bertollo, Jeff Bellis and Hċkan Samuelsson are happy to be back in civilization, enjoying showers, fresh food and the occasional beer.

However, ICE2001 is not yet finished this year with Logan. Coming down to Quintino Sella from the light camp at King Col are Fritz Koerner, Chris Zdanowicz, Kumiko Goto-Azuma and Tetsu Yamasaki. They are taking final snow samples as they descend.
