QGC Partnership

GSC-Quebec is associated with INRS-Eau, Terre et Environnement [water, earth and environment division of the Quebec institute for scientific research] through a collaboration agreement regarding the Quebec Geoscience Centre. This association promotes close ties and collaboration among scientists through research projects of common interest that address socio-economic issues in regional geology, georesources and environmental geosciences.

A unique example of partnership between a university centre and a government organization, the Quebec Geoscience Centre (QGC) brings together scientists from INRS-Eau, Terre et Environnement (INRS-ETE) and the Quebec division of the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC-Quebec).

With the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering of Université Laval, INRS-ETE offers interuniversity programs of graduate studies in earth sciences. GSC-Quebec researchers contribute to these programs as adjunct professors with the INRS and Université Laval.

The objectives of QGC include raising public awareness of earth sciences and helping to train future geoscientists. To that end, the QGC publishes outreach documents and organizes special events to raise and support young people’s interest in science.
