The Geological Survey of Canada's large Geology of Canada (officially titled: Report of Progress from its Commencement to 1863) and its companion volume, Atlas of Maps and Sections, provide a broad synthesis of the work done by William E. Logan and the Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) from the beginnings of the GSC until 1863.

The report was named by the Literary Review of Canada as one of the 100 most important Canadian books ever written.

You can read the report, along with other related documents at Written in Stone: William E. Logan and the Geological Survey of Canada (Library and Archives Canada).
