Winter Sleepovers

Have you ever dreamed of an experience of nature so profound that the silence of the forest penetrates to the very depths of your being? Skiers and snowshoers can extend their stay by spending the night in one of the Park’s shelters located in the heart of the forest.

Description of Shelters

Brown Lake Cabin
Nestled in the northeastern sector of Gatineau Park, in one of the most peaceful spots of all, this cabin is fitted out with bunk beds for 16 people and has all the modern conveniences you’ll need, including a refrigerator, stove and electric heat. A wood stove lets you toast your toes and adds a little atmosphere.

The Pines Cabin
This cabin can accommodate six people. It is equipped with bunk beds and a wood stove for heating and cooking.

Philippe Cabin
This former day shelter now provides overnight accommodations for 10 people. It has bunk beds and a wood stove for heating and cooking.

Lusk Lake Cabin
This recently built shelter is a shelter for skiers by day. From 4 pm to 10 am, it can be used exclusively by overnight permit holders. It is equipped with bunk beds for six people and a wood stove for heating and cooking. Drinking water is not available at this site.

Taylor Lake Yurt
This innovatively designed shelter with accommodation for six people provides all the comforts of a chalet. It has bunk beds and a wood stove for cooking and heating.

Richard Lake Yurt
The feeling of distance and solitude is strongest at the Richard Lake Yurt. To heighten this effect and to add to your enjoyment, parts of the trails leading to the cabin are left in their natural state. This yurt can accommodate six people and is equipped with bunk beds and a wood stove for cooking and heating. Drinking water is not available at this location.

In Case of Emergency

In case of emergency, call 613-239-5353 or go to one of the Park shelters (excluding the Shilly Shally shelter). Each shelter is equipped with an emergency radio communication system.

Drinking Water

Visitors will need to bring their own drinking water, as there is no source of drinking water near the Brown, Pines, Philippe and Lusk Lake cabins, the Taylor Lake and Richard Lake yurts, or near winter campsites.
