The NCC Traffic and Property Regulations as well as the NCC Animal Regulations are designed to protect the Greenbelt's natural values for future generations and ensure a high quality visitor experience.
Domestic animals on–leash are permitted on the following recreational pathways in the Greenbelt at any time of the year:
- Watts Creek Pathway from Holly Acres Road west to Corkstown Road
- Watts Creek Pathway from Corkstown Road west to Eagleson / March Road
- Greenbelt Pathway (Trans Canada Trail) south from Watts Creek Pathway to Robertson Road
- Greenbelt Pathway south from Shirleys Bay to Watts Creek Pathway
- Ottawa River Pathway (Eastern Segment) from Convent Glen (Orleans) to Canotek Business Park
- Greenbelt Pathway south from the Ottawa River Pathway to Innes (under construction)
Domestic Animals on-leash are permitted on the following hiking trails from April 15th to November 30th only.
- Shirleys Bay Sector, trail #10
- Stony Swamp Sector, trails # 20-21-22-23-24-25-26-27-28-29
- Pinhey Forest Sector, trails # 30-31-32-33
- Pine Grove Sector, trails # 40-41-42-43-44-45-46
- Mer Bleue Sector, trails # 50-51-52-53
- Green's Creek Sector, trails # 60-61-62-63
Domestic animals are prohibited from December 1st to April 14th as these trails are designated for cross-country skiing.
Domestic animals are prohibited from the following trails in the Greenbelt year-round as they are in designated conservation areas:
- Sarsaparilla Trail (P7) on Richmond Road north of West Hunt Club
- Beaver-Chipmunk Trail (P8) on Moodie Drive south of West Hunt Club
- Jack Pine Trail (P9) on Moodie Drive south of West Hunt Club
- Old Quarry Trail (P5) on Eagleson Road just south of Robertson Road
- Dewberry Trail (P20) on Dolman Ridge Road east off Anderson Road
- Mer Bleue Boardwalk Trail (P22) on Ridge Road east of Anderson Road
Visitors who do not comply with the regulations may be fined.
