The Mountain Pine Beetle Initiative

Important Notice

Addressing the mountain pine beetle epidemic is a high priority for the Government of Canada.

A new, comprehensive, federal program to deal with mountain pine beetle will be announced very soon.

Natural Resources Canada is honouring all existing agreements under the 2002 Mountain Pine Beetle Initiative – through to their completion.

Federal Forestlands

FEDERAL FOREST LANDS

First Nations bands with reserve lands located in mountain pine beetle infested areas can apply for technical and funding assistance to help manage and rehabilitate their affected forestlands.

Private Forestlands

PRIVATE FORESTLANDS

Owners of non-industrial private forestland can apply for technical and funding assistance to help them manage and reduce the spread of mountain pine beetle and rehabilitate their infested forestland.

Research and Development

RESEARCH

Ecological, economic and social research helps cope with the current infestation and reduce the risk of future outbreaks
