Inter-disciplinary Forest Ecosystem Research (InFER)
Fact Sheet - InFER Project
InFER was established in 1993 to determine the effects of harvesting
and silvicultural practices on boreal forest ecosystems. The inter-disciplinary
nature of the project promotes sharing of resources and common environmental
data, as well as coordinated documentation of ecosystem parameters.
This integrated approach to ecosystem research will contribute significantly
to our understanding of forest ecosystems and facilitate the creation
of sound forest ecosystem practices that will enhance our efforts
in realizing the goal of forest ecosystem sustainability in Canada.
