R-2000 Comfort

Comfort is designed into every R-2000 home. The high standards set for
R-2000 home certification ensure that homeowners will enjoy features such as:

Fresh air. A whole-house ventilation system is built into every R-2000 home. It provides a continuous stream of fresh, filtered outdoor air to every room, while exhausting stale air. The heat recovery system captures the heat from exhaust air to pre-heat fresh air entering the home. Many R-2000 homes include sensors that automatically adjust the rate of ventilation to keep the humidity at the right level.

Even temperatures. An R-2000 home provides exceptional comfort throughout the year. Extra insulation and tight construction eliminate winter drafts and cold spots. Because the walls and windows in an R-2000 home are more energy efficient, they feel much warmer than in a conventional home – and you feel more comfortable. In addition, R-2000 homes stay cooler in summer than most other houses.

Less outside noise. A well-insulated home means that you hear less outside noise and enjoy a quieter living environment.

Reduced dust and mould. By reducing drafts and ventilating the whole house, dust and moisture problems are reduced significantly. Energy-efficient windows help keep the heat in and help decrease window condensation, along with the staining and mould growth that condensation can cause.

A lighter, brighter home. R-2000 homes are designed to take advantage of the sun's energy during the winter. Energy-efficient windows can provide a larger window area and more light without boosting heating costs. R-2000 builders also try to orient the home so that most of the windows face east, south and west for maximum winter light and solar heat gain.
