Your health in a changing climate: risks and responses
Presented by: Jacinthe Séguin, Health Canada
Canadians are already experiencing health concerns associated with climate change related events including premature deaths from temperature stress, water and food-borne contamination, the emergence of new diseases, and physical and mental health impacts arising from extreme events. The degree to which climate change will affect the overall health of Canadians depends on our ability to identify risks and take necessary actions to adapt in order to reduce health-related vulnerabilities. Existing methods and new approaches have been used to explore the relationships between climate change and health, and priorities and solutions are beginning to emerge. This presentation will outline the current state of knowledge of climate and health research in Canada and identify adaptation options as well as future science and policy needs in the health sector. Please join us to learn more about how climate change may affect the health and well-being of Canadians.
