Aeronautical Charting Program

This Aeronautical Charting (AERO) Program web site provides information on the aeronautical charts and publications, and on the digital and custom aeronautical products.  While the Aeronautical and Technical Services (ATS) Division web site contains information on the management, quality systems, people support provided by the information technology and engineering teams, the Cartographic Imaging and Printing Services for governement-clients, and also on the History of aeronautical charting in Canada.

The Department of Natural Resources has a legislated mandate to promote the sustainable development of Canada's natural resources so as to meet the needs of present generations of Canadians without compromising the quality of life for future generations.

As a result, the Earth Sciences Sector (ESS) has put forward programs contributing to priorities issues. The ESS Programs Branch was recently created as the organisational unit that is accountable for the delivery of ESS Programs. The Programs Branch works within the ESS implementation of matrix management to deliver program outputs and outcomes, and will fulfil our obligations to Treasury Board through transparent reporting against the Program Activity Architecture (PAA). The Aeronautical Charting Program (AERO) Manager is reporting to the ESS Programs Branch under the Environmental, Safety and Security Portfolio.

Among those priority issues, AERO strives towards impacting on the issue of Strong and safe Communities by ensuring the safety of air travel for Canadians. AERO is also contributing to the following Service and Programs :

The Aeronautical Charting Program is the only supplier of aeronautical information that offers complete national coverage. By maintaining an inventory of over 20 products, customers can expect to find the information they need, including over 2,430 instrument approach procedures at 353 aerodromes and data for 2,110 airports across Canada.
