About us

The Geological Survey of Canada (GSC) Bookstore is the main sales outlet for geoscientific publications produced as a result of research carried out by the dedicated, internationally renowned staff of the GSC. The wide range of publications produced by the GSC makes up the fundamental national geoscience knowledge base required to support effective mineral and hydrocarbon exploration and development, and provides the geological basis necessary to understand and address health, safety, and environmental issues.

The GSC Bookstore carries an inventory of approximately 20 000 publications ranging from maps to memoirs, with some dating back to near the turn of the twentieth century. This comprehensive catalogue has helped establish the GSC as Canada's premier agency for geoscientific information and helps fulfill the eventual goal of making a full and scientific examination of the geological structure and mineral resources of the nation's landmass, including the offshore regions.

The GSC Bookstore's mission is to make this information available to all Canadians in a timely fashion. We are continuously striving to improve our products and services and are committed to employing new technologies to achieve this. Technological innovations such as e-commerce sales and the electronic dissemination of some publications are prime examples of our efforts at improvement. These new methods will ensure that the Geological Survey of Canada's geoscientific research and information will continue to contribute to the sustainable development of resources, public safety, environmental protection, and national sovereignty.
