Education & Outreach

The Geological Survey of Canada is committed to increasing Canadians' awareness of the earth sciences. The Vancouver office provides a variety of opportunities in the geoscience community through the summer employment of students to work as field and laboratory assistants for GSC scientists.

The Bookstore and Library offer a number of educational resources from Teacher's Kits to free posters and educational materials for loan or for sale. As well, the office is involved in Geotours, a tour of the Geological Survey of Canada (Vancouver) facilities and related field trips for young audiences.

Check out the Geoscape website for information on important geological issues in Vancouver, Victoria, Whitehorse and other cities and regions across Canada.

How to connect with GSC outreach activities:

Tour the Vancouver GSC office

Customized Geotours are available to educational groups interested in the geosciences. Please contact the GSC Vancouver Bookstore to set up a tour.

Book a speaker

GSC scientists are available through the Innovators in the Schools Program (national) and the Scientists & Innovators in the Schools program in British Columbia.

Visit a science fair

Visiting a science fair is a great way to stimulate young minds. Many GSC scientists act as judges and mentors at these events at the local and regional levels. For more information, visit the following links:
