Visiting Fellowships in Canadian Government Laboratories (PDF Program)

This long-standing program of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) provides scientific and engineering Ph.D. graduates with an opportunity to work with groups or leaders in Canadian government laboratories and research institutions. NSERC administers this program on behalf of Canadian government departments and agencies.

Several times a year, NSERC provides a list of candidates who have been successful in a peer-review process. The Canadian Forest Service (CFS) research centres may make nominations from these lists.

Fellowships are awarded for 1 year with the possibility of renewal for up to 2 additional years. There are no deadlines for application to this program; applications are processed and reviewed on a continuous basis as they are received. Nominations from CFS research centres can be approximately 2 months later. The stipend, which is currently set at $36,785, is fixed by NSERC. The funding for each fellowship (based on this stipend, administraiton fees and associated travel costs) is forwarded by the participating department(s) to NSERC, which assumes responsibility for administering these funds.

For more information on this program, visit NSERC Postdoctoral Fellowships or contact the Program Officer at the Science and Prorgrams Branch, CFS.
