Beaver and Chipmunk Trails in Greenbelt Temporarily Closed to Allow Construction of New Pedestrian Footbridge

March 8, 2006

Canada’s Capital Region — The NCC would like to inform trail users that a section of the Beaver and Chipmunk Trails, located in the Stony Swamp Conservation Area of the National Capital Greenbelt, is temporarily closed to allow the construction of a new pedestrian footbridge. The construction is situated 850 metres west of trailhead parking lot P8 on Moodie Drive, in Ottawa.

During the construction period, trail users are asked to keep personal safety in mind and avoid using the trail around the construction site until the work is completed. Users are also urged to respect barricades and signage that have been installed at appropriate access points. The work is expected to be completed by end of March 2006, weather permitting. The NCC would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their cooperation and patience during this temporary closure.

For more information on this construction project, please contact the NCC at (613) 239-5555, 1 800 704-8227 or by e-mail at info@ncc-ccn.ca.
