- In 1967, the first sound and light show was presented at the Astrolabe Theatre during the centennial celebrations for Canada.
- In 1984, the NCC presented the first sound and light show on Parliament Hill.
- In May 1994, the NCC launched a new show called Reflections of Canada: A Symphony of Sound and Light, produced by Stellar Productions Services Inc. of Vancouver, with a soundtrack recorded by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
- In 1995, giant images were added to the show to give it more depth.
- In 1997–1998, several adjustments were made to adapt the show to the significant renovations being done to Centre Block and the Peace Tower.
- In the year 2000, Productions Normand Latourelle (PNL) won a Canada-wide competition for a new sound and light show called Wind Odyssey.
- In 2004, AVHb2b Communications won a Canada-wide competition for a new sound and light show to be presented in 2005.
- 2005 saw the launch of an all-new bilingual show entitled Canada: The Spirit of a Country.
