Minerals
and Metals Policy of the Government of Canada
In
November 1996, the Cabinet approved a new Minerals
and Metals Policy of the Government of Canada. The Policy, subtitled
Partnerships for Sustainable Development, incorporates the concept
of sustainable development into a comprehensive federal policy document
with respect to minerals and metals. The Policy follows an extensive consultation
process with all stakeholders. It represents an important source of guidance
for federal decision-making on minerals and metals in the context of sustainable
development.
In addition to English
and French, copies of the Policy are available in Spanish, Portuguese,
Japanese, Mandarin and Russian. Limited quantities can be obtained by
