National Capital Commission
Canada

The NCC’s job is to create a Capital region that represents Canada and is meaningful to Canadians. Since 1903, when the first general plan for this area was sketched out, there has been a sense that Canada's Capital should be a “green Capital.” With the ancient rocks of the Canadian Shield to the north and a rich river valley to the south, the region has always boasted a broad array of flora and fauna.

We look after a wide variety of lands, including urban, rural and natural. Our goal is to protect, use or develop them so that they will be preserved for future generations of Canadians.
